The 1916D Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollar is an example of the first year of release for the series.  With a higher mintage for the year-date of 1,014,400 these coins are sought after by collectors.  Designed by Adolph A. Weinman, Liberty walking half dollars were issued from 1916-1947 and are composed of 90% silver with a net weight of .36169 ounces of pure silver.
